The Lighthouse is Wolverhampton's independent media centre and is home to diverse array of film, animation and photography events, screenings and educational events. Substrakt worked with The Lighthouse's existing offline brand to create a new web presence, the objective of which was to raise awareness of the centre's work and drive traffic to its events.

The Lighthouse had chosen WordPress as its content management system and selected Substrakt due to our expertise with the platform. WordPress was the natural choice for a site where so much dynamic information needs to be displayed on a home page. The Lighthouse needed to be able to edit content easily and securely. Substrakt created a back-end environment which provided staff with the ability to keep online visitors up to date with daily schedule changes, using WordPress to its full capabilities.

Integration with social media applications such as FlicKR and Twitter has enabled The Lighthouse home page to remain dynamic and fresh - in keeping with the brand identity.

Substrakt built a WordPress plug-in to create a calendar application for the site which gives users a one-stop view of events taking place across all disciplines at the media centre, which is helping to increase bookings.
